Where do I even begin? I know. I know. It’s quite a taboo topic to discuss. Everyone knows it’s a normal thing to take care of yourself and love yourself. It’s self-explanatory. However, it’s not an easy task to complete as we’re in this crazy world where everything goes by so quickly and we tend to lose ourselves along the way trying to fit in this society. If you’re like me, you also forget how to take care of your own needs at some point. What’s up next? Well, you might be filled with swarms of negative thoughts and find yourself confused all the time.

Here’s what I come up with at 1:30AM. Yup! Sorry if it might be all over the place.

  1. Take some time out.

Whenever you feel overwhelmed, it’s your body telling you that it needs a break. It doesn’t matter if your friends inviting you out, reject. As you’re growing older, missing a party or two is not that big of a deal. Find some time to recharge yourself. You’ve been working all week, alone time is the best to fuel your energy and soul. You’ll surely enjoy it especially when you’re an adult.

2.  Work!

When you feel down or empty, piling yourself with work and study really does help a lot. I’ve been there though I’m not going to talk about it. If you’re going through some rough time in life, go on and cry about it as much as you want. Let it burn. Let it hurt. After that, set your goal and priority straight. Get ready for the comeback. Indulge yourself in those careers and enjoy your fruit of labors. It keeps your mind of things you don’t want to remember and prepare yourself for the successful future at the same time.

3.  Make new friends and reconnect with the old one

You can’t be alone for forever anyway. Why not socialize? You never know if you meet your soulmate along the way. I meant I haven’t. Maybe in the near future? It’s possible. By this time, you’ve learned. You can’t say too much and you can’t get attached either. Learn the art of charisma. You want to come out as the best version of yourself after the things you’ve been through in the past. Be attractive, but with a brain. This world doesn’t need another chicken in human disguise.

4.  READ

How do you get yourself a brain? Read, of course! It makes you smarter. It helps you with your soul. It calms you down. It teaches you a lot of things. I cannot tell you enough how much reading has helped me. It does not matter what kinds of book you read. Read as much as you can. For me personally, I’m a big sucker for young adult novels. Romance and self-improvement are my favorite. I’m telling you right now. Go to the nearest bookstore and get yourself something to read this spring and summer. I swear by this. It’s going to be a big help.
